What is Collagen?

Unlike many proteins that primarily support muscle growth, collagen’s unique amino acid profile is specifically designed to build and maintain connective tissue. Glycine, proline and hydroxyproline are particularly abundant, making collagen essential for tissues that must withstand repeated loading and movement. How is collagen produced?

Your body naturally produces collagen by combining amino acids with nutrients such as vitamin C, copper and zinc.

Collagen production peaks during early adulthood and gradually declines with age. Intense physical training, repetitive loading, injuries, sun exposure and lifestyle factors may further increase the body’s demand for collagen turnover.
